Celebrate endings- As they proceed to new beginnings

by | Jan 4, 2021 | Mind

Welcome to the new year! Are you ready with your hopes, dreams, wishes, and any new-year resolutions you might want to accomplish? With the COVID-19 pandemic still a going concern, some of your traditional New Year’s Eve celebrations — the kind that includes crowds and parties  — might be off the table this year. Yet, the pandemic can’t stop some of the best New Year’s traditions: the goal-setting.

Some of the most common goals people set are to eat better, lose weight, stop smoking and get in shape. Those are all excellent choices, but there are other great desires to accomplish, so let’s look at it from another perspective. Would achieving all the goals on your list gives you the ultimate happiness and peace in life?

Before the ball drops on December 31, it’s still a tradition to settle on a couple of New Year’s goals, and this year, a renewed emphasis on your health just might top the list. When the pandemic forced us to stay indoor, it gave us time to reflect on our inner self. Our priorities changed and money wasn’t the only center of our survival. Our health, especially mental health, became more important.

A new year marks a new beginning and opens doors for limitless possibilities. Hence, this year, explore your inner self. Try simple lifestyle tweaks each day, and you’ll not only jumpstart a healthier body and mind — you’ll feel fantastic and fully determined to make 2021 a much better year than ever before. It’s time to put you first for even more “new year, new you” inspiration.

The following stands to reason, of course: If it were so easy to reach self-improvement goals, we wouldn’t have to make resolutions in the first place; we would change instantly. Many people observe this New Year’s rite because they believe that their lives will be better if they make a transformation requiring some sacrifice. They face failure because the resolutions they choose don’t match their real goal of greater happiness.
